My Story

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

– Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

I grew up thinking I would be a Veterinarian and save all the animals. However, the Lord had a different plan for me. I am thankful for the job shadowing I did in High School that allowed me to see my purpose in life was not in Veterinary medicine.

I am also grateful for Mr. O’Shea, who taught the psychology and sociology classes I took in high school and shared his love for social sciences. Through taking a career assessment, I began exploring the idea of helping others. I became a peer counselor as a junior in high school and fell in love with helping others, which at this time were elementary children.

I attended George Mason and received my degree intending to become a school counselor, but the Lord had a different plan. Multiple roadblocks caused me to take a different direction. I worked with the high school population for many years doing college and career planning with an at-risk population.

In 1998, I re-committed my life to Christ. Years later, I felt led to go back to college for a Master’s degree in Counseling. After much arm wrestling with the Lord, I submitted and attended Liberty University, graduating in 2012. Those years were the toughest but refining years of my life.

Upon looking back, I can see the Lord used life experiences and education through Liberty University to prepare me to serve His purpose of helping others struggling with mental health issues. I learned the value of treating the whole person by integrating biblical principles with therapeutic techniques to address emotional, psychological, behavioral, and spiritual barriers so individuals may live the life God intended.

I find it a privilege and honor to serve the Lord, help others using his guidance and direction throughout the healing process, restoring hope.
